CoinWorldCap Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Welcome to the CWC Help Center. Below you’ll find answers to the most commonly asked questions about cryptocurrency data, listings, and platform features. This FAQ consolidates essential information into a clear and easily accessible format.
1. Market Data & Pricing
How are cryptocurrency prices calculated on CWC?
Prices are derived using our Market Data methodology. We collect, aggregate, and evaluate trading data from supported exchanges to generate a weighted average price. For a detailed breakdown, please refer to the Market Data Methodology section.
What is “Market Capitalization”? How is it calculated?
Market Capitalization represents the relative size of a cryptocurrency in the market.
Market Cap = Price × Circulating Supply
It is widely used as an indicator of a project’s market presence and value.
What is the difference between Circulating Supply, Total Supply, and Max Supply?
Circulating Supply: The estimated number of coins currently available to the public and actively circulating in the market.
Total Supply: The total number of coins currently in existence (excluding verifiably burned tokens).
Max Supply: The theoretical maximum number of coins that will ever exist.
Why does CWC use Circulating Supply for market cap instead of Total Supply?
Circulating Supply better reflects the true market availability of a cryptocurrency. Coins that are locked or restricted cannot influence the market price and thus should not inflate market capitalization. This is conceptually similar to using “public float” when valuing traditional companies.
Why do some cryptocurrencies show a “?” for circulating supply or market cap?
This symbol indicates that we have not yet fully verified the circulating supply with the project team or blockchain data. We only publish market cap rankings once supply data has been sufficiently validated.
2. Coins, Tokens & Listings
What is the difference between a Coin and a Token on CWC?
Coins operate independently on their own blockchain.
Tokens rely on an existing blockchain (e.g., ERC-20 tokens on Ethereum). You can explore token categories and their respective platforms through our asset listings.
What are the criteria for listing a cryptocurrency or exchange on CWC?
Our listing standards focus on transparency, operational legitimacy, liquidity, and data verifiability. Please review our Listings Methodology for full criteria.
Why are some markets with zero trading fees excluded from price and volume calculations?
Zero-fee markets can artificially inflate volume through self-trading. Because such activity distorts reliable market signals, CWC excludes them from our pricing and volume averages.
Why is CWC listing a cryptocurrency that some users claim is a scam?
We do not judge the merits of individual projects. Our role is to provide accurate, neutral, and transparent data. As long as a cryptocurrency meets our listing criteria, it remains eligible for inclusion.
Why isn’t a specific cryptocurrency listed on CWC?
Listing requires manual review to ensure data accuracy and compliance. While we aim to list as many assets as possible, not all projects can be added immediately. Please refer to our listing guidelines for more details.
How can a project apply to be listed on CWC?
If your project meets our listings criteria, submit an application via our official listing form. Repeated or duplicate submissions will automatically be flagged as spam.
How can project data be updated?
For major updates, submit a detailed ticket via our support center. For minor corrections, use the update request form. To expedite verification, please contact us using an official project email domain.
3. API Services
Does CWC provide an API?

4. Updating Schedules & Data Refresh Intervals
CWC updates market information on a variable schedule based on exchange availability and provider rate limits:
- Price, trading volume, market cap: Every 1–10 minutes
- Circulating supply: Every 5 minutes
- Developer, social, and website analytics: Updated daily
- Blockchain metrics (e.g., mining difficulty, block height, TPS): Every 1 hour
Which timezone does CWC use?
All timestamps are recorded and displayed in UTC unless otherwise noted.
What is the 24-hour percentage change based on?
It is a rolling 24-hour window calculated relative to the current time.
5. Trust & Exchange Data
What is the Trust Score displayed for trading pairs and exchanges?
CWC incorporates a Trust Score system designed to combat inflated or manipulated trading volumes. Trust Scores reflect:
- Liquidity depth
- Operational scale
- API reliability
Trading pair Trust Scores are color-coded (Green / Yellow / Red) for easy visibility. Exchange-level Trust Scores are rated on a scale of 1 to 10 and can be viewed on each exchange’s profile page.
